Mixed Reality Honey Tasting: a world first experience.

We partnered with Microsoft to create a unique and portable honey tasting experience for Comvita using the Hololens 2.

This experience uses augmented reality to allow guests to engage all the senses while being immersed in a virtual world of honey.

As part of NZ’s pavilion at Dubai World Expo, visitors from around the world were able to experience this for themselves.

Due to the uniqueness of this project and the multi sensory application of the technology, Microsoft produced an extensive case study which was circulated globally promoting the project.

“We’re thrilled to see Comvita and Blur the Lines using HoloLens to influence how people taste and learn about different products," says Matt Bostwick, Partner Director at Microsoft New Zealand.

"I love to see real Kiwi ingenuity from companies using HoloLens in a way that brings new, fresh, and in this case, sweet, dimensions to multisensory experiences. To be making that strong connection between our food and the environment in a way that people viscerally experience and remember, not only makes for more powerful customer engagement, it also has the potential to change the way people think about our relationship with the natural world.”
