A world first immersive honey tasting experience

Comvita
Mixed reality honey tasting

Comvita wanted to create a honey tasting experience with limited space for the Dubai World Expo Pavillion.

We translated our projected experience into an augmented reality version using Microsoft Hololens technology with a 3D beekeeper as a host.

When visitors put on the headset they were transported to a forest setting with bees flying around them. Using augmented reality enabled the ease of seeing and tasting honey with a 3D world overlaid into the real world.

Due to the uniqueness of this project and the multi sensory application of the technology, Microsoft produced an extensive case study which was circulated globally promoting the project.

“We’re thrilled to see Comvita and Blur the Lines using HoloLens to influence how people taste and learn about different products, I love to see real Kiwi ingenuity from companies using HoloLens in a way that brings new, fresh, and in this case, sweet, dimensions to multi sensory experiences. To be making that strong connection between our food and the environment in a way that people viscerally experience and remember, not only makes for more powerful customer engagement, it also has the potential to change the way people think about our relationship with the natural world.”
